Firmware - change log?
Can we get a list of changes for each firmware release? I installed the 101 firmware and everything feels different (notably much stronger forces with the same FS-Force profile).

Sure thing.

For now:
Pitch forces should be the same for all of 100rev4, 100rev5 and 101rev1 but roll forces will differ for each.
Position reporting will be the same for each of these
Force effects will be parsed the same, with the exception of XPForce-generated Friction effects which will now vary in intensity with the slider in XPForce.

For Future:
I will include a changelog.txt file for each new firmware release.

RE: Firmware - change log?
Would it be possible to have the 100 rev 3 firmware posted up here as well. I flashed my yoke to the new firmware and the roll motor sounds like squealing tires when banking. This occurs in stand alone mode, as well as in sim. Other than the noise, the yoke responds very well. Smooth action in both roll and pitch axis'.

Not sure which sim/plugin you use but the sound from the roll motors was immediately evident to me also. I use X-Plane with XPForce, doing so reduces the sound level. Similarly, reducing roll forces in stand alone mode gives similar results. I assume this is a product of smoothing the roll force feel and as long as it's not detrimental to the yoke, acceptable to me at least. After all, sustained roll input should not be necessary in normal flight. I mentioned the noise to Kyle and whilst he did not comment directly he did not say whether it was harmful or not.

Not very positive comments I know but at least you know you're not alone in your findings.

RE: Firmware - change log?
Hi John,
You have provided some very useful information. I guess I have some more testing to do with FS Force, as well as the built-in firmware settings.
Thanks.
Craig

Me too, FSX and FS-Force. It squealed like a piglet! The Dragonfly 101 firmware stopped it, though.

Haha..apt description!

The roll motor is a real pain to get to feel smooth...the squealing you are hearing is some instability built into the controller that actually causes the motor to break the harder cogs it encounters. In our office (where production is typically underway) it wasn't immediately evident how bad it was. Long story short, the newer firmware (101rev1) shouldn't squeal; the frequencies were reduced significantly.

TLDR:
Please use version 101rev1 for now.

As always, new revisions will appear as bugs are reported or features are requested.

RE: Firmware - change log?
From MarkH, "It squealed like a piglet! The Dragonfly 101 firmware stopped it, though."
LOL! Very strange. Although, I only tested the 101 r1 firmware as a stand alone, without a sim or FS Force, it scared the $hi7 out of me. The slightest touch to the roll axis would set it off squealing. A similar test with 100 r4 and 100 r5, gave a similar result. The stock firmware was relatively quiet in comparison. Right now I am using 100 r4, with FS Force, and the noise is back to a decent level. I will re-flash my yoke with 101 r1, and try it out in P3D.

Craig

Update: Downloaded an updated serial driver, re-flashed the yoke with 101-r1 firmware, and everything is working fine. Quiet as a church mouse.
